Inner-city kids aren't the only ones affected by lost dreams and drug-related crimes. It's something that husband-and-wife filmmaking team Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly know all too well, as evident in the theatrical trailer for their indie drama "Beneath The Harvest Sky." Using their roots as documentary filmmakers, the duo wrote and directed their first ever narrative feature that takes an uncompromising, bleak snapshot of small-town life.

Set in a small border town in northern Maine, the critically-acclaimed indie follows two aimless teenagers: the trouble-making Casper (played by "The Place Beyond the Pines" star Emory Cohen) and the level-headed Dominic (Great Gatsby's Callan McAuliffe). Both feeling trapped in their soul-crushing, potato-farming community, the two friends plan a future farewell trip to Boston. Those plans, however, are put on hold when Casper starts to get involved in his father's illegal prescription drug business, which ultimately leads into a situation where their friendship is tested to its limits.

"Game of Thrones" star Aidan Gillen plays Casper's two-bit drug-dealing father. While Zoe Levin, Sarah Sutherland, David Denman, Timm Sharp and Michael McGrady round out the cast.

"Beneath The Harvest Sky," which premiered at TIFF last year, will be available on iTunes/VOD starting next month on April 15th and will also open in theaters on May 2nd.

synopsis:
Casper (Emory Cohen) and Dominic (Callan McAuliffe) have been fiercely loyal friends since childhood. Desperate for a way out of their quiet town on the Maine-Canada border, the boys make a pact to pool their earnings on a car and hit the road. But when Casper is drawn into drug smuggling with his outlaw father (Aidan Gillen) to pay his share, their friendship is pushed to the brink and adult choices forced on them all too soon.
