“Annie” Trailer — Upcoming Musical Remake starring Quvenzhane Wallis and Jamie Foxx

It's a hard knock life for ten-year-old wunderkind Quvenzhane Wallis. And no, we're not talking about her Oscar-nominated performance in 2012's "Beasts of the Southern Wild," but her latest starring role in the updated feature version of the classic Broadway musical "Annie." And you can now get a peek at Wallis as the titular orphan girl in the debut trailer for the heartfelt redo that also stars Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale.

Produced by Will Smith and directed by Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits), the upcoming film sees Foxx as a variation of the Daddy Warbucks character, named Will Stacks. He's a wealthy New York mayoral candidate who opens up his luxurious home to Annie, after a chance encounter. And while his generosity is a calculated attempt to get in the good graces of the voters, slowly and surely his frigid heart starts to warm up -- perhaps to a point where he actually sees himself as her possible legal guardian. Well, that's until her real parents are found.

The sun will come out tomorrow. However, "Annie" won't come out until December 19th.

synopsis:
Academy Award-nominee Quvenzhane Wallis stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) -- advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) -- makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he's her guardian angel, but Annie's self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it's the other way around.
